Back to the Gator

The GA ride of Grant Ransdell geared up in 85 (12-13) against the competing FL rides of Micanopy's Robert Devonald Batt, Lakeland's Cody Gitzen, Lutz's Donald Diperna and Tallahassee's Jett Johnson inside the top 10. While NJ's Nikolas Desiderio took the holeshot in Moto 1, over NC's Kyle Peters and Ransdell and the top 3 pulled away. Desiderio held a comfortable lead until Peters charged the leader and they were side-by-side over the finish line jump at the white flag. Peters brushed by Desiderio for the lead and Ransdell had the same idea but Desiderio shut the door and held onto second over Ransdell, Devonald Batt, and Gitzen in sixth. Devonald Batt had the lead in Moto 2 and took second after the start, while Ransdell, Peters, and Desiderio passed into podium position.
Much of the same continued into Moto 3 as Ransdell went 3-1-1 for the overall win, Peters took second with a 1-2-3 and Desiderio third and 2-3-2. The Florida boys were most consistent as Devonald Batt went 4-4-4 over Gitzen's 6-6-6.

The top 5 overall in 125 C listed FL residencies as Osteen's Tyler MacMillan nailed the holeshot in Moto 1 over riders like South America's Ian Chia, PA's Andrew Kinsley and UT's Nick Forrest; Chia passing MacMillan for the lead on the last lap. The Miami ride of Raul Tejeda was on the gas and had the lead at one point in Moto 2, over Orlando's Anthony Zaffino and Pontevedra Beach's Tyler Rybecky. Chia edged out Tejada on the outside for the lead, with MacMillan in third. In Moto 3, the Florida boys were back on top as MacMillan and Tejada held off the Groveland ride of Steve Strange for third. MacMillan locked in the overall win with a 2-3-1, over Tejada in second with a 7-2-2, and Zaffino in third with a 9-5-5.

Two FL riders dominated 250/500 A while PA's Darryn Durham pulled the holeshot in Moto 1 over Mike Picone and Ricky Renner with Steve Clarke battling inside the top 5. Renner stuck an easy second and continued charging behind the leader. While Durham held him off, Renner waited for an opportune pass, eventually ducking inside on Durham for first. Jay Weller passed into fifth, while Picone and Clarke were riding all alone. When Durham stalled his Suzuki on the last lap, he lost second to Picone but held onto third over Clarke.

PJ Larsen came out with the holeshot in Moto 2, proving he was back on track and recovered from injury. With Picone and Renner closing in on the leader, Picone passed Larsen for the lead and Renner followed right behind while Durham rode up through the pack. By the third lap, Renner had passed for the lead, Durham landed second and Picone went from first to third in one lap. Clarke held on to a top 5 finish behind Larsen. In Moto 3, Weller clutched the holeshot over Picone and Renner; the top 3 staying tight behind him. Picone passed Weller for the lead, Renner passed them both for first, and then Durham passed Weller for third. "I was satisfied with my results, but they could have been better if I had a fast bike at the beginning of the series," Clarke said. "I think Gatorback was the biggest challenge for me because it is very one-lined and hard to pass. I am very confident going into Texas as long as I get good starts, like throughout the Winter AM series. I think I can run with the big dogs like Stroupe, Canard, Nicoletti, McDade and the others. I think I can get consistent top 5 results and maybe a few moto wins," he said.
.
In the division 1 moto of 125 OPEN (NO A), Lucas Crespi and Vince Friese were side-by-side for the holeshot and Crespi was not letting off. They were still neck-and-neck at the green flag, over Kyle Corman, Sunny Drake and Trevor Donie. Friese had the lead by the second lap, with Crespi and Corman holding inside the top 3. By the white flag, Brazil's Cesar Popinhak battled with Donie for fifth, while Crespi held off Corman and Drake for second. In Div 2, Les Smith swept the start alongside the NJ ride of Kody Renzland in addition to PA's Nicholas McPhee. When PA's Garrett Toth tried applying pressure on Smith, he pulled a comfortable lead while the battle for top 5 flourished. Toth held onto second over Renzland, McPhee, Ecuador's Jetro Salazar in fifth. Smith took the holeshot in Moto 2 over Friese, Corman and Drake. By the green flag, Drake passed Corman for third while Crespi put the moves on Donie for fifth. In Moto 3, Vince Friese became the only person to beat Les Smith as Smith took wins in 11 of 12 motos. Crespi placed third overall with a 2-5-3 over Drake and Corman inside the top 5. Lakeland's Chris McBride and Ft. Myer's Dalton Yingling took seventh and eighth overall respectively.

Florida riders dominated second through fifth overall in 65cc (7-9), while GA's Coleman Martin took first overall, Reddick's Alec Lopez topped the list in second with a 2-4-3 over St. Cloud's Austin Winslow in third and a 5-3-7 with Ocala's Ryan Miller and Seminole's Drew Swenson rounding out the top 5 overall. Seventh place went to Floral City's Mason Price who DNFed the first moto but won both the second and third moto.
