FLmx: Jake Donely, what are you up to man?
Jake: Just working and trying to keep myself busy you no how it is.
FLmx: How long have you been racing now Jake and how did you get started?
Jake: Growing up me and my brothers all had fourwheelers that we used out here on the ranch and one day I watched a motocross race on TV and that was it i wanted one after that so when I was about 11 years old I got a YZ 80 and it took off from there now here I am
FLmx: You have been doing pretty well this year at Dade City, running in the top 5 with some pretty stiff competition. How has everything been going for you?
Jake: Thanks its been tough after Lorretta Lynn”s in 05 we quit racing and now I'm just coming back again and let me tell you everyone is going fast. I haven't exactly been getting the finishes or reached the goals I set for myself but every week when I stay off the ground I do a little better. Its been tough but I'm still plugging along.
FLmx: I think you win with having the scariest "Race Dad" at the track. He could scare me enough just to pull over and let you bye. But really he is one of the coolest guys at the track. Tell us how your Dad supports you and your brother.
Jake: Well you no sometimes he gets out of hand and I have to put a knot on his head....ok maybe I'm just kidding. But honestly I couldn't ask for more he has always been there for me and my brother 100% in everything we do; sometimes he can be tough he's pretty strict but I understand he's just trying to get me going the right way. Racing can be frustrating, so as much as he doesn't think so, I try and listen to what he says because I no its all for a reason. Hopefully one day I can be half the man he is.
FLmx: So what else do you do besides race?
Jake: Outside of racing I like to hunt and we also have 2 jeeps that we work on that are made just for mudding so I try and keep myself busy its pretty fun. Other than that I like to go wakeboarding with some of my buddies in the river and things of that nature.
FLmx: Are you going to school?
Jake: Yes I graduated this year and I’m going to go to HCC for a Business Degree and maybe see where school goes from there.
